Daddy Girl - Grateful

This is my Father and today is his born day on earth the May 21st - he passed on the 21st of September 1995 at the young age of 64

That day was painful-

I was saddened at his short time on earth - I wanted more time with him but after speaking with my Auntie's preparing for his services I found out that he was a sickly child- and that he battled to live from day one -

And he did ….

He excelled in academics and sports living the life that he loved-as an All American Collegiate Athlete in 3 sports, he broke many barriers of segregation and played professional football with the New York Giants, he later became an NFL Official and Supervisor of Officials, he was the first full time Athletic Director at Howard University spearheading HU into Division I status, he was a friend, teacher, administrator, coach, mentor and most important a husband, a father a family man

I realized in that moment that…

I was lucky to have him as my Father and to have gotten the time that I did
